To create mystery for you, to tempt you I'll cast this spell on you PERSONALITY(As a note, suicide is mentioned a few times; it isn't anything relating to Natsume himself, but characters around him.) Gifted with a sharp-tongue and an equally sharp mind, Natsume was the sole first year to be placed on the same level as several of his seniors, who were toted as geniuses—people who were a step above the rest, who were first layered with praise and then slowly, subtly, isolated from the rest of humanity. They were given the moniker of the "Five Eccentrics" and, while being designated as such gave them strong bonds with each other, ones that they treasured and found solace in... it truly set them apart from everyone else. Untouchable and thought of as monsters, like nails sticking up from a board, they were eventually taken out one by one by Eichi Tenshouin and the unit he had contracted three idols (Hiyori Tomoe, Nagisa Ran, and Tsumugi Aoba) into: fine. All but Natsume, that is. In his first year, he was childish and naive; he was lonely too, finding it difficult to connect with peers his own age. His fortune telling did poorly until he was announced as one of the Eccentrics, given Yumenosaki Academy is a school full of boys, who statistically believe less in the occult and predictions of the future, not to mention his attitude—provoking, roundabout, and accented with a sharp uptick at the end of his words—driving away any potential friendships. The type to put on airs and call out his own “bad habits” to establish a type of “character” he wants to show off to those he talks to, a fact Subaru calls him out on in Rocket Start. But those bad habits aren't false; Natsume does tend to lie and wind his way around words, and he does tend to say meaningful things (or meaningful-sounding things) to dodge issues, and he tends to steamroll conversations with his observations, and finally, he does—like someone he grows to dislike with every centimeter of his body—use people, in a way that tends to push them away, in addition to his personality. He can be direct, but he's at his most honest when he speaks with the strange intonation denoting his use of “magic”. Such times, as stated by Tsumugi, are his real, true feelings. Most of his more violent (towards Tsumugi, who gets hit fairly often due to his inability to actually feel pain, and also because he keeps bringing up Natsume's childhood when he cross-dressed as a girl while attending the Aoba family's idol training school) or harsh commentary are born from embarrassment; being the kind of person who loves knowing literally everything, to the point of making copies of important information for himself and bugging the school completely, not knowing what to do—how to act—things like that... It makes him react poorly, hiding behind a more prickly exterior. This helps keep him safe as well; you can't get hurt if people don't come close, and after the betrayal and defamation the Eccentrics went through the previous year, the hurt each of them felt and that Natsume himself felt at not being able to help them, due to their protection, that helplessness that defined the last moments of watching Wataru on stage after his script to win against fine was dismissed entirely... it's only natural that he'd do what he could to protect himself. Despite that, at the peak of winter of his first year, Natsume gives Tsumugi the folder containing his plan and other bits of information that would ruin the student council as well as undo all the effort they'd put forth to change the school to burn, and he states he'll stay by Tsumugi's side, too. It's an impulse born out of not wanting to see Tsumugi vanish, lose all hope, and take his own life (something Subaru's father, a man his mother was close to, did due to not having anyone standing beside him—he mentions the same to Subaru when explaining why he wants to make his acquaintance and be his friend). He wouldn't be able to handle the guilt, having been able to do something instead of simply standing by, and... he says it's also an act of revenge. That instead of simply stabbing him in the back, he'd keep him close by as a reminder, so that he'll always be tormented by guilt. In his second year, much has remained the same, though with the formation of his unit Switch and the addition of the secret weapon and treasure, a boy with synesthesia named Sora (who mediates and helps close the distance between Natsume and Tsumugi), he's slowly begun to open up a little more. He's still the type of person to tease and taunt, provoking and making people lose their composure—as he said, it's an occupational disease of fortune telling, and whether or not he's an active participant in it he was still raised to be one—but he also begins to show off the softer side he has beneath all the thorns grown from the hurt he's experienced. This is usually towards his juniors, especially Sora (who he adores) and the twins of 2wink, given their own closeness to Sora... But it also comes out with Tsumugi from time to time. He constantly tells him to stop putting himself down, despite Natsume himself making small commentary in the same way—mostly because Tsumugi does it in such a way that it's annoyingly demeaning. He also genuinely apologizes when he takes things too far, and he gives compliments for hard work. Switch's mission is to spread the magic of happiness through their performances, and it's something Natsume takes seriously even in every day life. He doesn't hate too many people, and he isn't someone who (understandably) wants to be hated, either. Being hated is lonely, and he hates feeling lonely—it's suffocating and stifling. Essentially, despite how hard it is to get to know him, despite how aloof and perverse he can be, despite how he's a terrible sore loser, not to mention really petty, and despite his short patience when it comes to people inviting his unitmates to things like sleepovers without consulting him first (whether or not he'd actually accept), Natsume's actually a fairly kind person, with a bit of a soft spot growing in his heart and who errs on the side of being well-meaning, despite the methods he uses to get there. He's often referred to as a precious thing by his eccentric seniors, whom he considers older brothers and whom consider him their littlest brother as well—something that deserves, that needs to be protected, so that it can continue to flourish. The core of this hasn't changed at all going into his third-year either: his "conquest" of Yumenosaki Academy is an investment for Switch and for New Dimension both, as well as a vengeance for the Five Eccentrics. He's still as petty and busybody as ever, thankfully. CANON ABILITIES☆ Fortune-Teller; very observant and knowledgeable about how people work. He's trained under his mom, a world-class one, and is good enough to fill in for her without issue. While the majority of his fortune-telling work is done with crystal balls, it's safe to assume he's familiar with most types of it, include cartomancy (generally tarot cards) and palmistry (palm-reading). ★ Magician; of the sword and sorcery variety. He engages in "alchemy," which mostly boils down to baking/cooking treats and, presumably, creating his own scents, given he smells different every single day. He's also skilled in "casting magic" - revealing the truth with a dissonant voice (his "true" voice, signifying his real thoughts or feelings), as well as things on stage, such as fireworks and glowing lights. ☆ Idol; attended one when he was much younger and was the star there before he moved on, he's retained enough of it that he can simply skip class for his present schooling. Skilled at singing, dancing, and being the straight man to a handful of people despite the incredibly outlandish and completely unironic way he carries himself. ★ Genius; he has a natural talent for picking up whatever he feels like doing and, coupled with his parents' ability to get him anything he'd want or that they'd like, has given him little to no hobbies and a sense of boredom. What doesn't come to him quite as naturally is truly understanding people, despite thinking that he knows how humans work in a very broad sense -- as Tsumugi says, he tends to jump to weird conclusions and get upset about them. ☆ Game Club; for some reason he's really good with technology. He made a drone and also an entire VR system and game, not to mention the bugs he planted around the school in first year, nor modifying his phone in a way that allows him to both talk through it and have it explode should it fall into the wrong hands. |

Magical Mint Night: Dark chocolate and refreshing mint, with small popping candies in it. Apparently a little bitter.
Dolce de Blood Orange: Blood orange sorbet with the scent of Grand Marnier. A mature orange dessert with a refreshing sour taste and a rich sweetness. (No alcohol is actually in this ice cream.)
